Vego Garden seeks a Social Media Manager to oversee daily social media operations, drive brand engagement, and position the company as a leader in sustainable gardening through strategic content and community building.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the internal social media team, setting content direction, campaign strategies, and performance standards while promoting accountability and creativity.
- Develop and manage social media strategy across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, and new channels, including brand voice, posting schedules, algorithm optimization, and SEO for gardening and sustainability topics.
- Establish Vego Garden as an authoritative voice in the Reddit gardening community through organic interactions, expert advice, and reputation management.
- Evolve the Facebook group into an educational hub by creating moderation frameworks, empowering super-users, and encouraging peer mentorship.
- Expand into emerging platforms with tailored strategies, such as utility-focused Pinterest for garden planning and integration into Discord servers for sustainability enthusiasts.
- Act as a horticultural expert, offering guidance on planting, soil health, and pest management to build credibility.
- Foster community support by moderating spaces, responding promptly to interactions, and creating resource centers for peer support.
- Monitor digital trends to identify and enter new online communities where Vego can provide value.
- Track brand reputation, escalate issues to internal teams, and serve as a bridge between community and operations.
- Collaborate on community-driven content, UGC campaigns, and PPC ad creation that aligns with authentic brand voice.
- Deliver advanced reporting linking social metrics to business outcomes like sentiment, customer value, and conversions, while providing insights to product, marketing, and customer experience teams.
- Monitor trends in social media, gardening, and related fields to keep the brand innovative.
- Support events and campaigns with social-first approaches to boost participation and long-term loyalty.
- Handle additional duties and adhere to company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or related field.
- At least 5 years managing social media for DTC e-commerce brands.
- 1+ years leading or managing a small team.
- Demonstrated gardening knowledge to act as a credible expert.
- Excellent written communication with a friendly, clear brand voice.
- In-depth knowledge of social media strategies and online culture.
- Experience expanding presence on Reddit, Discord, YouTube, and Pinterest.
- Advanced proficiency in social analytics beyond basic metrics.
- Background in contributing to paid social and PPC creative.
- Familiarity with tools like Sprout, Hootsuite, Later, or Sprinklr.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities for handling multiple platforms and campaigns.
- Experience in social-first event and campaign planning.
- Ability to work indoors at a desk and outdoors on a farm, including lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to varying weather.
