OnBuy, a rapidly expanding UK online marketplace, is seeking a Head of Performance Marketing to lead and expand its performance marketing operations. This position focuses on driving gross merchandise value (GMV) growth across a £200m+ portfolio by leveraging segmentation, data systems, and rigorous testing, emphasizing trading and scalable systems over branding efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial and strategic leadership by owning GMV growth at target contribution levels across performance channels and markets, establishing channel mix, investment guardrails, pacing rules, and scaling strategies, while collaborating with Finance on forecasting spend, GMV, and ROI.
- Define and implement segmentation based on department, margin band, seller ID, and performance tiers; ensure testing and activation across other channels and translate propensity and LTV models into actionable strategies.
- Develop channel-specific strategies, including segmentation, waste control, and reporting for Shopping; partner strategy and contribution management for Affiliates; lifecycle and retention growth for CRM; and structured test-and-scale for Paid Social.
- Oversee measurement and experimentation, including incrementality testing, attribution, evaluation of new growth channels, and publication of monthly performance insights.
- Manage the operating model by conducting weekly growth forums, setting guardrails, stop-loss rules, and alerts to support ambitious company growth targets.
- Lead the performance marketing team, including Senior Managers in Shopping, Affiliates, and CRM; build a lean, automation-oriented team structure and oversee hiring and development.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated senior leadership in performance marketing within ecommerce or marketplace settings.
- Advanced hands-on knowledge of Google Shopping and managing large-scale catalogue activation.
- Proven track record operating at scale in high-SKU environments.
- In-depth expertise in incrementality, attribution, and experimentation methodologies.
- Comprehensive grasp of segmentation and incrementality principles.
- Experience collaborating with data science and engineering teams.
- Robust commercial acumen and data-driven decision-making approach.
- International exposure in UK and EU markets, with US experience preferred.
- Ability to perform effectively at both strategic and operational levels.
- History of leading efficient performance marketing teams.
