Filtronic plc seeks a Bid Manager to spearhead the creation of compelling, successful proposals for advanced RF and mmWave technologies in sectors like space, aerospace, defense, and telecoms. Reporting to the Lead Bid Manager, the role involves managing bids from initial evaluation to submission and transition, collaborating across departments to craft technically robust and commercially viable offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete bid process, from opportunity evaluation to submission and contract transfer
- Create and oversee bid timelines, plans, and governance structures
- Direct interdisciplinary teams to produce unified, superior-quality proposals
- Verify that all deliverables meet compliance standards, are logically organized, and match client needs
- Collaborate with finance and sales to formulate pricing and commercial approaches
- Perform risk assessments on schedules, including P50/P70 confidence intervals, and pinpoint critical delivery challenges
- Promote ongoing enhancements in bid procedures, resources, and oversight
- Interact with high-level executives to align bids with company objectives and capacities
Qualifications
- Background in handling technical bids or proposals, preferably in RF, microwave, aerospace, defense, telecoms, or high-tech engineering fields
- Firm grasp of bid management techniques and tender processes in public and/or private sectors
- Demonstrated skill in juggling several intricate bids at once
- Robust project management expertise, encompassing planning, risk handling, and budgeting
- Business acumen, including involvement in pricing tactics and proposal creation
- Superior organizational abilities with keen focus on particulars
- Effective communicator adept at collaborating with both technical and non-technical groups
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or comparable relevant background
