The Director of Marketing + Audience Development will spearhead strategic initiatives for City Cast’s nationwide array of city-specific podcasts, newsletters, and social platforms during a key expansion period, crafting comprehensive marketing approaches and mentoring local audience managers to drive impact in 13 markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute onboarding and coaching programs for local Audience Development Managers, including tools and training for tactics like PR, partnerships, events, and grassroots efforts.
  • Formulate national marketing strategies adaptable to local contexts, including plans, goals, and budgets, while advising teams on challenges and opportunities.
  • Promote a collaborative environment focused on experimentation, knowledge sharing, and replicating successful tactics across markets.
  • Manage national campaigns, forge partnerships to enhance brand reach, and collaborate with creative leadership on initiatives aligned with network objectives.
  • Create annual marketing plans emphasizing major events, oversee digital advertising resources and budgets, and implement performance reporting systems.
  • Guide a compact marketing team with clear direction, professional growth, and integration of marketing into organizational operations.
  • Monitor industry trends in podcast and newsletter marketing to introduce innovative practices and foster open communication.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years in marketing or audience development, showing increasing responsibility.
  • 3+ years in managing, coaching, or leading teams, direct or indirect.
  • 3+ years of practical experience with social media and multi-channel campaigns.
  • Proven success in local or regional strategies combining digital and offline methods.
  • Background in media, journalism, or publishing preferred.
  • Strong ability to simplify complex strategies into executable plans for diverse audiences.
  • Expertise in building systems, processes, and resources that empower teams.
  • Skill in crafting visually engaging presentations and toolkits.
  • Proficiency in stakeholder management, consensus-building, and influence without authority.
