The Technical Marketing Manager will oversee daily marketing operations for Trail of Bits’ Application Security, AI/ML Security, and Research & Engineering divisions, partnering with engineering leaders and the go-to-market team to transform security research into compelling promotional materials like blog posts, social initiatives, event activities, case studies, and client collaborations.
Key Responsibilities
- Track engineering outputs such as tool releases, research papers, conference talks, and milestones to ensure comprehensive coverage via blogs, social threads, newsletter mentions, or suitable formats
- Address the existing backlog of unreleased tools and research by creating public write-ups
- Develop case studies, briefs, blog drafts, and marketing materials suitable for both technical and business audiences, including hands-on writing
- Collaborate with the Technical Editing team on content pipelines for reports and blogs, providing additional writing support as needed
- Manage the content calendar across practices to maintain steady publishing and prevent oversights
- Handle social media on platforms like X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky, ensuring consistent posting, community engagement, and audience expansion
- Oversee Trail of Bits’ participation in industry events and conferences, including pre-event promotion, on-site coordination, post-event follow-ups, and speaker preparation
- Design and execute multi-channel demand generation campaigns involving social, email, webinars, and conference activations to build sales pipeline
- Gather and organize customer proof points like testimonials, logos, and case studies to bolster sales credibility
- Support sales enablement with collateral, competitive intelligence, and prospect research
- Enhance analytics and reporting by establishing dashboards and cadences that link marketing efforts to pipeline and revenue impacts
- Manage marketing attribution to correlate campaign activities with sourced and influenced opportunities
- Conduct market intelligence via customer interactions, competitor analysis, and community involvement to refine service positioning
- Monitor developments in AppSec, AI/ML Security, and R&E to identify team opportunities
Qualifications
- Proven demand generation experience running campaigns that generate pipeline, preferably in security, blockchain, or developer tools sectors
- Strong writing skills for technical audiences, including blogs, case studies, and technical documentation without simplification
- Solid understanding of AppSec and AI/ML security landscapes, including key players and community hubs
- Active participation in relevant communities on X, LinkedIn, or Bluesky
- Direct ownership of social media channels, managing posting schedules, engagement, and growth
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making with experience in reporting and dashboard creation
- Hands-on use of marketing automation platforms like HubSpot for workflows, list segmentation, and performance analysis
- Comfort with developer tools such as GitHub, markdown, and AI assistants like Claude Code
- Awareness of structuring content for human and AI-driven accessibility
